Thinking, Emotion, Anticipation & Memory (TEAM) Study

We are recruiting people who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. We are also recruting people who do not have schizophrenia or a family history of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

What is the study about?
The purpose of this study is learn more about symptoms, experiences, thoughts, memories, and emotions of individuals with and without schizophrenia.

Who can participate?
People with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
People who do not have a current mental illness diagnosis or a family history of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
People between 18 and 65 years old
People who speak fluent English
People with no history of a head injury or neurological disease

What will I do?
The study invovles two sessions, 1 week apart. You will participate in several tasks, including interviews and computer tasks that show you different pictures and videos and ask you to rate how you feel. We will also ask you to tell us about past memories and to think about future experiences, and we will ask you to fill out some questionnaires. During one of the computer tasks, we will measure your facial muscle movement.

Where does the study take place?
The study will take place in a quiet room in the Emotion & Social Interaction Laboratory where your privacy can be maintained. The Emotion & Social Interaction Laboratory is in Tolman Hall on the UC Berkeley campus.

How long will it Take?
Each session will take 2-3 hours. There are two sessions in the study, 1 week apart.

Will I get paid?
You will be reimbursed $15.00 per hour for your time and inconvenience.
